Gustavo Sanchez Garcia, 17

Died Jan. 19, 2012

Gustavo Sanchez Garcia, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Jan. 19, in the 8300 block of Norwalk Boulevard in West Whittier-Los Nietos, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies found Garcia in an alley about 10:16 p.m. after responding to a call about a gunshot victim, Deputy Benjamin Grubb of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

The teen was shot once in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene, Grubb said.

Detectives are looking for a person seen leaving the scene in a dark gray compact vehicle, Grubb said. No weapon have been recovered.
