Hector Urias, 47 [Updated]

Died Sept. 8, 2010 at 5:28 a.m.

Hector Urias, a 47-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, Sept. 8, in the 3500 block of Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Urias was found at an auto repair shop suffering from a gunshot wound at about 5:28 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Winter said. The coroner's office had no additional details about the incident.

The Times has contacted investigators to obtain more information about the case and will provide an update as soon as possible.

[Updated at 3:34 p.m., Oct. 12: Sheriff homicide Sgt. Luis Nunez, who is handling the case, said the investigation is ongoing and he is following several leads.

It's still hard to believe, I can't imagine what its gonna be like driving down Santa anita looking over Hector urias shop and him not be there, I could just hope for his family to find peace and know that Hector will always be remembered by lots of people as a good person, R.I.P Hector
