Herbert Turner, 42

Herbert Turner, a 42-year-old black man, was shot several times on Wednesday, May 27, at the intersection of 48th Street and South Ascot Avenue in Central-Alameda and died the following day, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

He was the victim of a walk-up shooting, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office. Winter said Turner died at a hospital where he had been taken for treatment.
