Died March 8, 2009 at 11:25 p.m.

A Latino, believed to be in his early 30s, was shot and killed at Alameda St. and Tweedy Ave. in Florence-Firestone, according to coroner's records.

The man, whose name was not given by the coroner, was discovered fatally wounded after sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a car accident at the location.

"Upon arrival, they discovered a taxi-cab driver on the sidewalk with gunshot wound injuries," according to sheriff's investigators. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's officials said.

A Latino juvenile was found in the rear of the cab and was detained for questioning. Deputies found two handguns at the scene, according to the report.
