Hugo Hidalgo, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, March 27, in the 17200 block of Glenhope Drive in Valinda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Hidalgo, who is from La Puente, was at a house party about 12:09 a.m. when a verbal altercation occurred in the backyard, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.
Two assailants began shooting and Hidalgo was hit several times in the abdomen and back, coroner's records show.
It was unclear if Hidalgo was involved in the fight.
He was taken to County-USC Medical Center where he died at 2:21 a.m., Winter said.
Authorities believe that the shooting may have been gang-related.

This has been a devastating tragedy for the whole family. The family is suffering. If you know something please speak up, whoever did this needs to pay the consequences. Put yourself in the shoes of the family. How would you feel if your love one was taken away from you. Speak up!!!

Iam so sorry for what happend I really do he was my brothers best friend I wish id known him a little better he sure did look like a nice guy he didnt deserve this id said prayers for him and his family of course dont cry no more hes in a better place now resting in peace with no more worries or sufferings dont be sad no more he wants to see you happy dont make revenge with your own hands only god has the right to make revenge may hugo hidalgo rest in peace well always remember him forever well be missing you from your friends and family

We know he is in a better place... Its been a couple of months that he was taken fom us. Not one day goes by that we don't think about him or miss him. It gets me mad how somone be so heart less destroy a family. Stupid gang members I hate them all.!!! There was a bunch of cowards at that party I can't believe no one is speaking up at least one person there should know who it was.
