Ignatius Steward, 22

Ignatius Steward, a 22-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, March 31, in the 4100 block of Sutro Avenue in Leimert Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Steward was shot several times and died at the scene about 10 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Authorities are searching for two assailants, believed to be teenagers, who were seen leaving the area in a blue Honda. Officials consider the incident to be gang-related.

Los Angeles police were searching for two young assailants Wednesday after a man was shot and killed in Leimert Park in what authorities say was an apparent gang-related attack.

The man was killed about 10 a.m. in the 4100 block of Garthwaite Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said. His name was not released.

The victim was hit several times and died at the scene, the LAPD said.

Since January 2007, more than 80 homicides have been reported within two miles of the scene, according to a database by The Times' Homicide Report.

The two assailants, believed to be teenagers, in Wednesday's shooting were seen leaving the area in a blue Honda.

Nate was a quiet laid back Handsome young man. I knew him since he was small, I remember when he was small he kept his pacifier close hanging around his neck :) To the family, I just want you all to just stay strong, I know that he is missed and that god will work everything out. Your hearts will never heal however over the time the days will get a little easier.
