James Withers Jr., a 20-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Feb. 7, in the 2300 block of Vuelta Grande Avenue in Long Beach, authorities said.
Withers, of Lakewood, was shot shortly after 1 a.m. in the residential neighborhood, a few blocks west of El Dorado Park golf course, according to Long Beach police.
Withers was hit in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact Long Beach homicide detectives at (562) 570-7244.

No he was not n a gang y r u,Im his Mom so all those who have nothing good to say please keep ur remark to ur self he had a lot of good n him children do what they do and we as parents do not no every thing r kids do when there not n r sight, so no matter what any one has to say about him I loved him busy n I loved him being good he was/is my best friend with all my love now n forever n well not be forgotten, when he would live out the door I told himI love him n when he return home he would give me a kiss on my farhead that I miss so much, SO SON MOMI WELL ALWAY LOVE U ASWILL AS MISS U SAYING THIS WITH A LOT OF KISSSSSESSSSSS JAMES MOM LOVE!
