Jason Randle, 21

Died Aug. 7, 2010 at 11:21 p.m.

Jason Randle, a 21-year-old black man, was fatally shot Saturday, Aug. 7, in the 7000 block of South Hoover Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police received a call of "shots fired, victim down" about 11:30 p.m., said L.A. Police Department Criminal Gangs and Homicide Det. Refugio Garza, who is handling the investigation.

When authorities arrived, they found Randle in the back of his apartment complex with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to California Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Garza said.

Investigators believe someone confronted Randle before the shooting.

Anyone with information about the Randle's death is asked to contact Garza or Doug Pierce at (213) 485-1385. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

— the trooth, just what do you expect the police to do? Be everywhere at everytime?

— syscom3
Aug. 11, 2010 at 9:38 a.m.

Hey the trooth (truth?): There aren't enough police officers to be everywhere all at the same time. And these thugs who do the killing aren't going to do it in front of a cop, right? So I'm not too sure after reading your post how an incident such as this leads minorities to distrust or not embrace the police. If anything, I would hope that members of that immediate community after seeing such a horrific thing would come to understand that they need more of the police and need to come forward and report anything they saw or heard to the police. Oh, and, if you don't mind, wouldn't it be easier to just use traditional correct spelling rather than intentionally misspelling every other word? I mean what IS that all about?

Such a young man--so sad to lose your life before it has begun. God Bless his family and friends who are in such pain right now.

Trooth,

So you expect police to be everywhere at all times, monitoring the activities of everyone? And then you expect us to believe this would cause the "majority of minorities" to embrace the police? I think your lack of logical reasoning skills actually surpass your lack of spelling skills.

I don't understand why black people pretend to not know what's happening in their own neighborhood??? Everyone knows who the gang members are and what they do. Where are the police?? well when they do show up you scream racism or other typical response. I know this are very well because i was shot coming out the Belize club not too far on Vermont ave. The area is filled with hoover gang members and meatloaf crip and everyone knows and majority support it

Its soo crazy because we were friends. We went to school together but i havent heard from him since graduation and to find out he's dead... its just breath taking. I never knew his parents but i hope they read this and it brings comfort... IM SORRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED! THIS EARTH COULDNT KEEP SUCH AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN MUCH LONGER. HE IS WHERE HE BELONGS NOW. Although we wont see him physically, doesnt mean he isnt here with us. He can hear and see us. So when the pain of his lost is too much to bear and you find yourself missing him. Just close your eyes and talk to him. Tell him how you feel. He can hear you. My condolences!

Hey ws1x7hxxverz, wasn't it just last week where you posted that you had your rear window shot out? What was it, over by Tams I think. Are you now claiming you were also shot in a separate incident? Your credibility is fading rather quickly. However I do also wonder as you do, why we can't go after these well known criminal gangs. I mean if we can't use RICO on them, well then can't we go after them in some other legal manner? I mean is it a problem with first amendment right to association or what? Anyone...anyone...

@ ws1x7hxxverz

To be perfectly honest, this is not a forum where you post your ignorance. We can clearly see that from your first line of your comment. Let us not forget that this not about whether or not "people" and not just "black people" as you put it know who lives within or around their neighborhoods. Yes, alot of us know where to go and where we should not go because of life that has proceeded us. If you didn't have anything nice to say as far as respecthing this sensitive issue regarding my cousin, then you should have kept your comment to yourself. Yes we do have freedom of speech, but this is why you chose to speak hear rather than be seen. Think before you speak the next time and maybe something intelligent may come out. Everyone else is sending condoleces out to my family except you. Please do not continue to disrespect the nature of this issue. Thanks, I am sure I will see a response from you after this.

Me and my family want to thank the ones who left their sincere condolences. Everyone who knew my little brother knew he was a good kid. And cousin jm you are so very right you said everything I really don't need to say anything.. I just want people to know that my brother will rest in peace. Me and my family are really heartbroken due to this tragedy. It's just a shame that people can take a life and don't feel no remorse. but they can't run from GOD.

i just want to say sorry for the lost of another young solider.but i have questions was he smoking in the back of the apts. also in those apts there is some little gang call kds with means krazy devils.there mostly mexicans in that fraile gang.was they involved.i use to work out at the park across the street.i would see thugs walk from the apts to the park and just smoke weed.in that area you have hoovers and menlo's gang sets, but they dont go to the park.the hoovers or the menlo's gangmembers,so you have some lame mexican gangs chilling at the park ,cuzz they know ain't no black gangs up there.that's the border line for hoovers and menlo's ,they are worst enemies.either he got in to it with one of those mexican kds members or it could of been a personal dispute between him and another cat, i believe the hoovers and menlo's had nothing to do with this murder.

He was a gang thug, plain and simple.

Citizenjohn and Syscom3, in your view there's nothing wrong with a cop killing a suspect or a cop not present to prevent a crime. Will you ever have a different view about these animals?

— Jag
Aug. 24, 2010 at 11:26 a.m.

I don't think given the enormous volume of criminal trash in the LA metro area that we could hire enough cops to effectively stop it. I think that most crimes are committed by devious sneaky low lifes and most of them will not do their wicked deeds in front of law enforcement. So no, I don't think there is a failure of law enforcement because some garbage decides to kill another human being and won't do that in front of a cop. Regarding cops killing suspects it's really very simple: if the cop had reason to believe his life or someone else's life was in IMMEDIATE danger, he has not only the right but in fact the responsibility to end the threat. In practical terms that usually translates to the use of lethal force. If there is time and the circumstances are appropriate, the cop should try to use a non-lethal approach. Usually there is very little time...a matter of a few seconds to make that fateful decision. It's a bad situation by definition, but we NEED those guys out there dealing with it. BTW if/when a cop makes a deadly mistake or intentionally causes harm on others without cause, I am ALL in favor of throwing him off the force and if its aggregious enough, sending him off to prison.

Jag, the police are animals?

— syscom3
Aug. 24, 2010 at 12:58 p.m.

@jag- No syscom3 and Citizenjohn will always be on the side of the police. They have never seen some of the damage left behind when a bad cop gets loose in the streets. They probably have never even been pulled over for a "false" stop. Let them stay in their fantasy world-and when reality hits them then you will be able to tell by their responses to the HR. I hope Jason Randle's family can find some peace and let God give you some understanding.

@wsix7hxxverz- What are we supposed to do when the neighborhood we are living in is like a maze of red and blue killing machines? When the police show up they try to get as much information as possible-but people don't want to tell the truth for fear of being called a "snitch" this is a sure way to become the next murder victim-so no one will tell the truth. Some of the police I have encountered have been caring and understanding of the street "mentality" and try to respect it and give people time to do the right thing;some are just tired of not getting anyone to come foward and help with the investigation,so sometimes they are not nice. They can only try so hard and then they too give up-if we "the community" won't help solve the crime they ( police) can not solve it with out our help. Then there are some who are low down dirty police that do and say the most vile things- those few are the reason some fear all police. The bottom line is we ALL as a community need to figure out if we want to help ourselves by being diligent in watching out for each other and talking with the police or pastors or someone and help be the solution; or are we going to continue to lose our loved ones to street violence-the ones who cause hell shall rule our streets or the ones that have intelligence and respect and the need to survive will take care of our neighborhoods block by block-if we move together we can stop this sensless madness.

if you lived in south central and your in the demographic like 107hoover you'd be shot and shot at multiple times , I like his south central point of veiw on the hr, he knows what he his talking about . I know it really doesn't matter where we lay our head at we all can comment what we want(at the mercy of the la times of course) last Friday night when I was at a burger joint off 120th and figeruroa I was standing outside on the sidewalk. I had blue basketball shorts on and a black undershirt on after a few cars drove by, I was getting looks from some drivers and passengers then I realized I was in athens park blood zone and quickly went back inside and waited for my food.. I'm sure 107hoover is not making anything up . If we have personal knowledge about the streets of la county and we are able to post it and that's one of the things I like about the hr people from different areas and backgrounds of life in LA county . That's to all of you who have problems with people living in the "areas" posting comments on the hr.

562vert: Ok I see your points and I also like to hear from the myriad of voices and cultures on this blog. Otherwise, why would I keep coming back? One thing though, if I were in his demographic and could therefore expect to be "shot and shot at multiple times", which I'm still not necessarily buying into, I would have to be a complete idiot to continue living in that area. Right? Syscom describes these as "killing fields" and perhaps that's an accurate description. So then why stay there? Please explain that to me if you would and I hope you're not going to suggest that it's difficult to get out or that they don't have the money. Everyone I know has had to move a time or two; it's pretty straight-forward.

@ syscom3
your comment makes absolutely no sense. If you would have read what i said then you would not have typed what you left here on this page. Like i said before, this is not the the place for such comments. People here are forgetting what this page is really intended for. This is not a chat room of some sorts to go back and forth with individuals whom we don't know. Out of everything you read, you decided to comment on my "freedom of speech" line. Read my post again, then maybe you will be clear. On another note. Thank you once again to the people who sent their condoleces for my cousin and the family.

@TrumpTight , i was standing outside The 3 Bears Burgers, that place been there for years, come on now. If you know about south central cuisine you know about that place, i keep it real on my posts @Citizenjohn i too agree with you also, i say the same thing why do people with common sense live in those areas in south central? Just like with the white flight of the 1960s and the middle class black & latino flight of the 80s and 90s what you have left is the hold outs who never moved away have a good head on their shoulders and the poor criminal element who causes most the problems we talk about on the hr. I know i be in sketchy areas by choice . Right now im at my other place with my gf in buena park , ca which is way safer than south central or my family house in long beach. Some people dont want to leave i guess

Now unlike some of you blogger on here i don't make up stories at all. I was shot by the meatloaf crips in 07 not in 2010 and the incident by tams burger happened last year. I never said i was not affiliated with the west side hxxverz. I don't run from the truth i actually embraces the reality i live in. The fact is, the best way to get on this homicide report is by being from a GANG so to those who want to follow this death style ,look no further than these blogs, and see the results
