Javier Rueda, 28

Died July 10, 2010

Javier Rueda, a 28-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by Los Angeles police Saturday, July 10, near Penrose Street and Claybeck Avenue in Sun Valley, according to authorities.

Officers were patrolling Lankershim Boulevard and Cantara Street about 6 p.m. when they noticed a motorist, later identified as Rueda, who appeared to be driving under the influence, according to an LAPD news release.

As police tried to pursue Rueda, he led them on a chase. He then stopped his car and exited with a handgun, police said. According to the news release, Rueda immediately began shooting at the officers who returned fire.

Rueda was hit by several gunshots. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Once officer was shot during the incident and was in stable condition, according to police. The other officer suffered what authorities described as a fracture and was also in stable condition.

Investigators said that Rueda was a documented gang member who, at the time of his death, had been paroled from state prison. He had been transferred to the Non-Revocable Parole program that was developed for low-level, nonviolent offenders.

With all the recent cop killings I'm not surprise this gangbanger took a chance to get into a shoot out with cops. If a gangbang knows that he may still get killed even he complies I'm sure he rather go at it. By no means do I support this type of behavior, but as long as cop continue to kill people this type of incidents is expected.

R, that's right baby! As a gangster from BREED ST, I rather go out this way than surrender and still get whacked by these pigs.

javier, you will be greatly missed. i agree with female in the valley, about bullets on the cops car. it doesnt make sense. i saw the video of when they pulled him out of the car. that vision will always be in my mind. he got pulled out like if he was a rag doll. that no way to treat anybody. it doesnt matter who they are.

Why is it only a very few people seem to have that problem?

Javier, On this day I miss you more than ever. you were the best son/brother/cousin/ friend anyone could ever have. You tried your best to do well in life but LAPD did the best to keep you down and eventually end your life. I thank God so much you did not stain your hands with the blood of those pigs! people only see what the "cop/media" put out but the truth is there are no witnesses you ever shot at them or even had a gun! they shot you in the back like cowards and they will answer to God someday for that!!!!!
