Jerome Downs, a 21-year-old black man, died Sunday Sept. 6 after he was shot at 4th Street and Boylston Street in Westlake, authorities said.
Downs and another man were sitting in a vehicle when someone walked up to their car and shot them both in the torso, said Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Both men were taken to a hospital – the other man, who was not identified, survived his injuries.

I knew jerome since I was 5 and he was a very good guy who unfortunately got into the gang life. All that aside, nobody deserves to die. he leaves behind a mother, kids, and a girlfriend. the horrible part is that his mother already lost his father and his older brother, and now him. MAN COPS NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT ROCKWOOD STREET,THEY DID THIS AND THEY SHOT AND KILLED A DAMN TAMALE VENDOR A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THIS RIGHT IN THEIR MAIN HANGOUT.AND NOBODY IS IN JAIL!THEY USE TO BE ONLY ON UNION NOW THEIR EVERYWHERE AROUND HERE!
