Died May 13, 2011

Jerome Maddox, a 31-year-old black man, was fatally shot Friday, May 13, in the 300 block of East 98th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Maddox got into an argument with someone about 5:15 p.m.

During the altercation, the person produced a gun and shot Maddox several times, Winter said.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he died 18 minutes later. Coroner's records show Maddox had sustained several gunshot wounds to the torso, extremities and head.

Winter had no other information about the shooting.

I didn't know jerome personally..but my boyfriend iz one of hiz closest friendz. He iz deeply saddened by thiz senseless act. Ironically, jerome and i share the same last name?? May hiz soul rest in peace...

Jerome was my big brother and I loved him dearly He taught me major things in life. Positive things at that...I bet you still putting sum shyt together lol...If it wasn't for you i wouldn't kno how to drive "26"in. rims.. Lol I miss you brother...
