Died April 17, 2011
Jesus De La Cruz, a 17-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, April 17, in the 1100 block of 60th Street in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Another juvenile was shot in the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment. De La Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
The department did not have any more details about the shooting.

Not just black gangs, Mexican gangs are just as deadly. In fact this is how most gangsters will eventually end up, regardless of race.

The last commenter has some nerve; he seems to have snuck a gang message onto this website -- look at his name ("Florenciano") and his "cheese in my toast" comment. It's in poor taste to be promoting one's gang on this website, but then again, nobody ever said gang members were concerned with issues of good taste.

To the LA Times staff. The comments from James Brewster and Florenciano are tainted with gang disrespect slogans aimed at the Florencia 13 and East Coast Crips and should be removed from this comment section. Comments like these do nothing but continue this gang fued in LA. Please be more conscientious about these posts. You need to hire someone who has more gang knowledge and who can inform you of such terms prior to posting them. "Another Flower in the wind" is dissing Florencia and "I guess it's time to to start putting the cheese on my toast" is dissing East Coast Crips. You do not need to post this comment, it's just FYI.
