Joey Gutierrez, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Friday, Jan. 28, near 43rd Street and Main Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Police received a call regarding a shooting about 8:20 p.m., said LAPD Newton Det. M. Terrazas, who is handling the case.
Gutierrez was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and taken to California Hospital Medical Center for treatment. He died about an hour and a half later, Terrazas said.
Investigators do not have a description of the shooter, but they believe the incident was gang-related.

Another gangbanger off the streets. Perhaps a previous homicide case in which he was the culprit will go unsolved. I only assume being that his nickname is "Criminal". Shame on you individuals for promoting the existence of these walking shells of destruction that society has created. My children will be condemned should they choose to live such a lifestyle. There is absolutely NOTHING progressive about gangbanging! I HATE THOSE WHO PARTAKE IN IT!
Yet even worse I hate that this young man will not live to change his ways, so I say RIP(rogress) and hope that your passing will serve as inspiration to your friends and family to reverse this process of living in the city.
