Alex Lombardi, 18 [Updated]
Died Nov. 28, 2010
Alex Lombardi, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Nov. 28, in the 7700 block of Otis Avenue in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
[Update Dec. 2: Coroner's officials initially gave Lombardi's identity as "John Doe." Officials withheld his name until they could speak with next of kin about his death. Although the coroner gave his age as 18, Lombardi's mother contacted the Homicide Report and said her son was 17 at the time he was killed.]
Deputies responded to a "gunshot victim down" call about 3:20 p.m. according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department news release.
When authorities arrived, they found Lombardi and another man, Ernesto Aguilar, an 18-year-old Latino, with gunshot wounds.
Both men were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, officials said.
Witnesses to the shooting described the assailant as a male, possibly Latino, wearing a hooded sweatshirt. He was last seen fleeing on foot west on Olive Street. Bystanders also saw a gray or silver sedan heading west on Olive Street.
Authorities said the shooting is believed to be gang-related.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the shooter is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

This is to the cowardly low-life thug that took these two kids lives, and probably boasting and bragging about what you did.
One day you will meet this same fate, and I hope that your family, and friends doesn't get on this blog, and start talking about how sweet, caring, and a family man you were trying to have everyone feeling so sorry for you, when you could cold-heartedly take two innocent kids lives like you did, YOU COWARD!!; I guess now your sticking your chest out like your the man now.
How would you feel if your family was did this same way, If you were a real man, then why didn't you confront them, and fight with your fist if you were truly a bad-ass??, No, because you COWARDS don't do things like that, and you chose to be a big COWARD!!. I can't wait until justice catch up with you, convict you, and they give you the death penalty, then you'll want the justice system to have mercy on you like your a victim, and I'm sure your family would be very ashame of you, and what you did, and hope you take your punishment like a real man, and not like the coward your use to being, YOU COWARD!!

This is our community's fault, these young men are dead. We failed them, we didn't speak up when we should of, we didn't tell them how we felt, how stupid they were being, now these kids are dead because we didn't speak up, we accepted them in our community when we shouldn't of and, Not untill we stop accepting gang members in our communitys will this ever stop.

Syscom3, who in the hell said he was a gangmember? You are always trying to put down anyone who is murdered. You must have a sad life to assume everyone here is a bad individual. You must have a sick mind or are a very lonely man.. Do something more productive with your life. And don't post that you pay taxes and write your local politicians because that doesn't mean nothing. Many of us do that. It's nothing impressive to write, it's part of being a citizen.

I grew up with Alex's mother and know what kinda kid he was. My heart goes out to her and her family. I also lived just two blocks from the murder scene on Hill and walked up and down that area daily as a kid. I'm so sad to see my hometown hasn't evolved and is stuck in the same violence and ignorance we all lived 25 years ago. Alex was a good kid, at the wrong place at the wrong time!

The veterans can put a stop to this non-sense if they want to, but they love seeing the blood shed. How about they man up and target the real criminals lying in wait heavily armed for them? You target some kids who hang with a crew or hood. Pathetic, kill a big dog and feel like a man, killing kids is a green light to bigger conflicts. Seriously "La Eme" send the memo out, this sh*t has to STOP! You guys can harass dope dealers to pay a tax, pass a rule. Only target men, and men who have shot or killed someone. I'm old school, fair fight... and stop the wussy child murders. Cowards. Hope the kid responsible gets what's coming to him. Killing two people, leaves two entire families destroyed. i personally didn't know Alex, but my baby's dad was a good friend of him. he seemed like a nice guy & was loved by alot of people..
Who ever did this is a coward and i hope that he serves justice just like he deserves it.
Alex was in the wrong place at the wrong time and should'nt be misunderstood to be a gang member especially from people that didn't know him well.

Alex was my student. He had a pet named Eden and he was just a kid. A child.
Seventeen; shot down in cold blood in the middle of the afternoon on a sunny California day. A child.
Was he a gang member? We don’t know. Was it his fault? We don’t know. Was it our fault? We don’t know. Could we have stopped it? We don't know. And what kind of questions are these anyway? He was a child. A child deserves our trust.
We don’t know the answers to these questions and it doesn’t matter. Not to Alex.
Alex was a good kid.

ALEX , was a great human being & always made anyone around him smile, he was very outgoing, smart, funny, very caring, friendly, & had an amazing heart :)

My nephew Alex will be missed by everyone that knew him. He was not gang related and was a great kid with a big heart; very obliging and lovable with all his little brothers, sisters, cousins and pets (he had every pet you can imagine). Our hearts are broken but I know we will see each other someday.
As for the murderer, he will have his turn. I do not wish anyone pain, suffering or death but I know that he will get his turn and God forbid he is taken out just as cold or even worse than my nephew Alex and his friend Ernesto, I do not wish that upon anyone.
@Saul- for all we know the murderer is probably your next door neighbor and fyi my nephew and his friend were walking in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now the only thing YOU should accept is that you are a FOOL and that your community and it's stupid low life gangs are CRAP, this is not the first time this type of crime happens in Cudahy.

Whether or not he was hanging out with the wrong people no one deserves to die this way. It's devastating and heartbreaking, not only to us but to all families who have gone through this so I suggest if you don't have something positive to say, don't post anything at all. There might be a reason for everything but murder is not a reason nor a solution!

i didnt know him but i know someone who was special to him. From the stories i heard about him i know he was a good kid and he is now in my prayers. Now that he is an angel he can look over those who loved him.

Anyone who is using these murders as a platform for social commentary is missing the true point: these children are dead, and their families have suffered an irretrievable loss. As a teacher, I appreciate what Alex's teacher said: children deserve our trust. The police force depends on the eyes and ears of the community to go where they cannot; please come forward if you know anything at all.

Alex=( When I found out I swear I got a flashback of ur smile n refused to believe it. I remeber exactly wen i met you, you and dat gorgeous smile that was super contagious. The only motivation i have to keep moving forward is that things happen for a reason and maybe God took you with him for the better. I will never know the reason why but Im calm knowing that God took you with him for the better,
