Jonathan Carro, 21

Died Oct. 9, 2010

Jonathan Carro, a 21-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Oct. 9, in the 1800 block of East Rosecrans Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim at about 1:13 p.m. and discovered Carro and another Latino suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a Los Angeles County sheriff's department news release.

Carro was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The second shooting victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Witnesses to the shooting said Carro and the other male were approached by two Latinos in their early 20s. People in the area heard gunshots, and bystanders saw the assailants flee from the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identities of the suspects is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers by dialing 1-800-222-8477.

Jonathan had a smile that would light up any room. He was a good guy working to finish up school and was taken from us way too soon.
