Jorge Alvarado, a 43-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, two days after he was shot in the 11800 block of Atlantic Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The shooting occurred Jan. 15, when a man stormed into a store, pulled out a gun and robbed the cashier, L.A. County Sheriff's Department authorities say.

The cashier fled to a neighboring business, where she told workers she had been robbed. Two of the workers, one them Alvarado, confronted the robber as he was leaving the market, sheriff's officials said.

Alvarado's co-worker was armed with a knife and stabbed the robber in the neck, deputies said. The robber shot at both workers and fled in a van. According to coroner's records, Alvarado was shot in the head.

He died Tuesday morning at St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood, the Sheriff's Department said. He was a Lynwood resident

The suspected shooter was identified as Kyle Henderson, 30, a black man, who is on parole, the Sheriff's Department said in a statement. Also arrested was parolee Terrance Fair, a 47-year-old black man, who allegedly drove the van. A third person arrested was identified by authorities as Ischa Criner, a 42-year-old black woman.

All three were arrested on suspicion of murder and are being held without bail.

Henderson served time in prison for second-degree robbery and was released on parole in December 2009, according to a source familiar with the case. Fair did time in prison for second-degree murder and was released on parole in March.
