Jorge Barajas, a 30-year-old Latino, died Saturday, May 8, in the 10000 block of South Hickory Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Police received multiple calls reporting a "person down" about 5:30 p.m., said LAPD Criminal Gang Homicide Det. Andrew Moody, who is handling the investigation.
When authorities arrived, they found Barajas on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office. Barajas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators do not have any leads on a suspect.
