Jorge Rodriquez, 16

Died Nov. 27, 2011

Jorge Rodriquez, a 16-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Nov. 27, in the 1500 block of West 254th Street in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rodriguez and David Escobar, a 16-year-old Latino, were near the corner of Senator Avenue and 254th Street about 5:30 p.m., when a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside the victims and a suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun, said Los Angeles police Officer Sara Faden.

"They ran a short distance before they collapsed," she said. Both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Faden said it was unclear how many suspects were in the SUV, and investigators are still seeking a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information about the killings is asked to contact Harbor area homicide Dets. Fernando Rivas or Boris Oliva at (310) 726-7881 or (310) 726-7880. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.

Two reader comments about Jorge Rodriquez

"Little Angels"

When God calls little children
to dwell with Him above.
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love.
for no heartache compares with
the death of one small child,
who does so much to make our world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to His fold.
So He picks a rosebud
before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them
and so He takes but few,
to make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow me must try.
The saddest word mankind know
will always be "Goodbye".
So when a child departs
we who are left behind,
must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find
