Jose Carrillo, a 45-year-old Latino man, was found dead inside a hotel room at 14955 Roxford St. in Sylmar about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. A housekeeper at the Countryside Inn Motel called 911 after finding Carrillo's body, and Fire Department personnel declared him dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division investigated and found evidence leading to the 14200 block of Calvert Street in Van Nuys, where police arrested Armando Torrez, 23, and a 17-year-old teenager, who was not named.
The motive for the killing was unclear, and police do not know why Carrillo was at the hotel, said Lt. Wes Buhrmester of the Mission Division.
