Jose Celeridad, 42
Died Jan. 1, 2011
Jose Celeridad, a 42-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 1, in the 500 block of West Olive Street in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Celeridad had emerged from his vehicle about 11:17 a.m. when another vehicle — described as a dark-colored Ford pickup truck with two men inside — stopped nearby, according to Inglewood police.
The driver of the pickup got out, fired a handgun multiple times at Celeridad, then got back into the truck and drove away, police said.
Celeridad was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The shooting is believed to be gang-related.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Inglewood Police Department at (310) 412-5246.
A friend of the victim's who contacted Homicide Report said Celeridad had turned his life around, staying drug free and out of trouble for well over a year.
"After his last release from jail something changed in Jose for the better, maybe he just had enough of giving up his freedom, we will never know now that he has been taken away from us. Whatever the reason may have been, Jose made a complete change in his life for the better," wrote Julie Ridge in an e-mail.
Ridge said her friend, known as Jesse to most, had found employment, bought a car and got his own place.
"He moved away from all the temptations, and was finally on the right path in life," Ridge said.
She said she contacted The Times because she felt "never are the good things mentioned, just because a person at one time was involved in gang activity does not mean they never accomplished anything in life. Many people in our society judge people by who they use to be instead who they have become."

He had a heart of gold and is terribly missed. He did not deserve this... Nobody does. He deserves to be remembered as the good man that he was, the wonderful father he had become and for the way that he touched the lives of those he knew. He changed his life around and just wanted to finally have his happily ever after, only for some lowlife to take it all away. May his killer be found and may justice be served, but nothing will replace the loss we all feel. R.I.P. my friend ... Until we meet again. God rest your soul.

If he had just turned his life around and was a bit over forty then he had probably been in involved with gangs for about 20 years? I guess sometimes th streets don't forget.
Either way it's a shame that he was killed considering he had the courage, discipline, and strength to change his life. Rest in peace.

It's a shame what ahppened to this man. Yeah, he might have done some bad things in the past. But I do believe in redemption. But things can catch up to you. Even if it is 10 or 20 years later.

I can still remember michelle chasing u around singing "SILLY" by Denise Williams.
I will never forget your smiling face.
Or how you always made me laugh. Even when i was 8 months pregnant. And you stopped by to see how I was doing. You told me about the day your son was born. And not 5 minutes after you left I went into
labor. You thought that was pretty funny.
Thank you Jesse for being a good friend. "Ill miss you always"

When someone turns their life around it shows and when evil see's that joy in someone they'll snatch it away because they hate the fact that they can't feel that joy. Has anyone looked at the homies.
