Jose De La Trinidad, 36 [Update]
Died Nov. 10, 2012
Jose De La Trinidad, a 36-year-old Latino, was fatally shot by authorities Saturday, Nov. 10, in the 1900 block of East 122nd Street in Willowbrook, according to the victim's family.
De La Trinidad was in the passenger seat of a car being driven by his older brother, Francisco de la Trinidad, 39, when officers attempted to pull them over for speeding about 10:20 p.m.
Officials said Francisco de la Trinidad then led deputies on a brief chase, before stopping to let his brother, Jose, out of the car.
Sheriff’s Department officials say Jose de la Trinidad “quickly” exited the vehicle and seemed to be reaching for his waistband, prompting two deputies to open fire. Family members and an attorney for the de la Trinidad family insist that Jose was standing with his hands behind his head when he was shot by deputies and have requested an FBI investigation into the shooting.
After allowing his brother to exit the vehicle, Francisco de la Trinidad sped off again before crashing a few blocks later. He led police on a short foot chase before being taken into custody.
Anyone with additional information about the shooting is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

Tragic. Yet another murder of an unarmed victim in LA County

When will people realize that committing crimes has consequences.
His brother must feel pretty pretty bad causing his brothers death. Did he have drugs in the car? Did he have warrants for his arrest? Did he have stolen property in the car? Perhaps the car was stolen. Why did he run from the police?

— not again
Why did he "quickly" exit the vehicle, knowing damn well that it's the wrong thing to do, especially when you're leading police on a chase? Why not exit the vehicle slowly and drop yourself to the ground, spread-eagle, instead of doing anything with your hands around your waist?

Meck, do you forget people are not robots and everybody acts differently in any given situation? Apparently, you need to educate yourself about human's reactions under stressful situations. I thought you were smarter thanthis.

There recently was some sort of study of shootings by LASD which showed that of the people shot for "reaching for their waistbands", over half of them had no gun.

Regardless of not having a gun, you don't reach towards your waistband.

"Smarts" aside, it seems most people would agree with me. Take a look at the comments here. It's "common sense".

eye witness said she saw it clearly and he did not reach for his waistband he had his hands visibly behind his head. He's DEAD not everyone is blessed enough to not have screwup fam/friends or have been a screwup b4. Know one should die for following police orders

this is an outrage how can L.A people kick back and allow these savages to keep on terrotizing the city ,if OBAMA CAN MAKE CHANGES LET HIS 1ST MISSION BE OPERATION CLEAN UP LOS ANGELES and many major cities inside of the USA and restore the pride of a great nation , R.I.P though
Nov. 30, 2012 at 7:54 p.m.
Obama make changes? Like what? Tax the people who create jobs and prosperity? Don't deport any illegal alien that commits a crime? Curry favor with the people who spend their whole lives on welfare?
Reggie, change must come from the people who live in these killing zone neighborhoods. They reelect the same do nothing politicians decade, after decade after decade.
And until those same people realize that they alone are the cause of the violence and they must change the business as usual attitude of their elected leaders; not one thing will ever change.

Sheriffs = Murderers
Dec. 4, 2012 at 10:19 p.m.
— Mike, the study you are referring to also indicates that the majority of killings committed by the LA County Sheriffs are hispanics. It seems nobody is outrage about the findings. So I guess they will continue killings Hispanics knowing there will be no consequences.

Expecting Obama to clean up L. A.? Chicago is his home town and it's even worse than L. A. Typical head line from the local paper in Chicago: "6 dead, 27 wounded during weekend".

Back to the basics of the incident, guys!: IT IS A TRAGEDY! Both for his family who are left behind without their main breadwinner (of which his 2 young daughters happen to be a local Westside Girl Scouts) AND for the officer who shot him certainly feels horrible, but of course it's part of his job to protect the innocent bystanders in his surrounding, his fellow officers and himself. NOT TO MENTION his pathetic brother who probably will never get over causing the death of his brother! BUT MOSTLY FOR HIS KIDS AND WIFE - IT IS A TRAGEDY!! re: the police haters - there are always some "bad apples' in any bucket, but come on - DO YOU REALLY THINK MOST POLICE WOULD KILL A MAN WHO GOT OUT OF A RUNAWAY CAR TO LET THE BAD CAR/PERSON SPEED OFF AND HAS HIS HANDS AT HIS HEAD??? Most people (police are people too!) would not kill that man! Please don't assume all police are bad!!

I've been stopped by police at gun point when they say put your hands where we can see them you best put your hands where they can see them these guys are not playing games when they draw their weapon on you it's shoot to kill their not going to wound you like in TV shows or movies it's best to obey their commands no matter how much you hate the police.
Dec. 13, 2012 at 11:04 a.m.
— It's a TRAGEDY, Please stop it with your blah blah comments and siding with incompetent cops who are not hardly ever held responsible for taking a human life away. I'm sure if it was one of your family members executed by any law enforcement you will have a different opinion. There are many other ways to bring a suspect down, but trigger happy cops chose to use lethal force instead.
Dec. 17, 2012 at 9:17 a.m.
— JR, I'm amazed on your comment. How different is it from thugs trying to robe you at gun point and police pulling you over at gun point? They both are serious and they both are not playing games.

People, don't give syscom3 a chance to spout off about politics. This is a guy who gets his sociopathic jollies tormenting grieving families, when he's not moralizing about how everyone else should live.

Im all for keeping our neighborhoods safe but killing the unarmed is taking it a bit far. Maybe to you racists his life didnt mean diddly squat but to his family it did. Cops who abuse their power to kill hispanics senseless dont deserve to be a cop and need to go to prison with their crooked self.
