Jose Ortiz, a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Nov. 23, in the 200 block of North Chicago Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ortiz was the victim of a walk-up shooting, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office. Authorities were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 8 p.m.
LAPD Hollenbeck Det. S. Carrillo, who is handling the case, said there are no suspects in custody. At this time, investigators do not have a description of the shooter.
