Jose Ramos Jr., 18

Died Jan. 23, 2011

Jose Ramos Jr.

Jose Ramos Jr., an 18-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Sunday, Jan. 23, in the 8700 block of Bradhurst Street in Pico Rivera, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies responded to the location, a home, about 12:43 a.m. and found Ramos suffering from stab wounds, according to a department statement.

Ramos was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His death is the first homicide of 2011 for the eight-square-mile city located in the southeastern part of Los Angeles County. At least two homicides were reported in the city last year, according to the Homicide Report.

Authorities said the stabbing occurred shortly after a fight broke out between partygoers and 10 to 15 uninvited gang members, who were demanding entry into a birthday party. At least one gang member fired a handgun at several people, but no one was struck, investigators said.

The gang members fled the scene in several directions after the stabbing and shooting. Authorities did not have a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department at (323) 890-5500. Callers can also leave anonymous tips at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

Jose was a Great Kid. He was so young and full of life! Its so sad his life had to end so tragic. I really hope that the people responsible are caught asap, before they try and go crash into another family party they werent invited too. R.I.P Polar Bear!

I've been at a couple of parties where uninvited gangsters showed up. They are just there for one thing, TROUBLE! Any kind of it!

They are not gangsters, they are COWARDS!!, and I think the rule of thumb should be when you see these types of cowards crashing your party call the police right away, that way you have better chances of them getting caught, then you do to let them do their dirt and run like the cowards they are!!

Meck, surprising to hear that you put yourself in "danger" and attend such parties in such areas. I say this from all your past commnets on here.

Fam. Ramos. May you find peace and confort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew and love him. He will be greatly missed.

Experiences from my teenage years. (In the 90's). BTW, Pico is not a 'bad' area.

The problem with calling the police, is that yes, they will leave. But they'll come back later, and pissed. But, I also think that is the best thing you can do.

Call the police? Unless you have a white last name, good luck having them show up in a timely manner.

My prayers go out to the Ramos family i know words cant replace the loss of your child. Just know that the monsters will either be caught or will serve there time if not here on earth but in hell. The pain never goes away but your sons memory will always live on i say this from experience in loosing a loved one to cowards! I know rage is all you can think about right now, but emotions tend to cloud judgement know that you and your family will have your time to face these monsters when they are caught. Your son will always be watching over you my prayers are with all of you at this very difficult time God Bless!

I agree with COPS...
I live in a regular size town where the cop station is no more than 5 minutes away from my house, when we call them they take anywhere frm 30 mins to an hour to get there, doesnt matter what the situation is, they never get there when you need them!

This is just rediculous. He got killed for being involved in a gang. Getting into a party or not, he was part of a gang. Then we get all of this ignorance on here of people mourning their "homeboy" calling him by his gang name and what not. Gimme a break. Your going to be mourning alot more of your friends if you cowards don't clean up your act. This is the whole reason why I moved out of L.A. County.

MTupDown..I take it you dont know polar bear.He was tall and and light skinned for a Mexican. It was a nickname for Jose. He was the oppositte of a gangmenber, active in sports, and good student. Loved by all family and friends. The amount of respect at his service spoke who he really was. Dont be ignorant. Learn not to judge a book by its cover. Know that there is no safe place where ever you move.

Querida Fam.
