Jose Soto, a 49-year-old Latino, was shot Tuesday, May 19, near the intersection of 1st and Toluca streets in Echo Park, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Soto was sitting in Vista Hermosa Park with a friend when the two were approached by a younger person wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Police said the shooter was Latino and possibly male. Several rounds were fired, and Soto was hit in the torso, according to police. He died from his injuries.
