Joseph McMillan II, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed on an MTA bus Wednesday, Oct. 13, near West Manchester and Crenshaw boulevards in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The 2:55 p.m. attack appears to be gang-related, said Lt. Oscar Serrano of the Inglewood Police Department.
The bus had stopped for a red light when a gunman walked up and fired multiple shots, fatally wounding McMillan, police said.
"It appears he was the intended target, based on witness information," Serrano said.
McMillan was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Serrano said a suspect was apprehended by police and was expected to be interviewed by detectives.
The Times has contacted investigators to obtain more information about the case and will provide an update when additional details are available.

Here it goes again, more bus killings, whats next ? Like I said before, sooo young !! Whats worse, over nothing that had no real meaning. RIP. (the next time I ride a bus I'm going to be wondering if it is safe).

@ syscom3 word was he was "gang banging" in rival territory and provoked the guy or guys with anger to shoot him. Ive heard a few other stories but all af them lead to him mouthing off "dissin" a couple of other hoods. Its all speculation. These are just accounts of what happened that I heard. If I was a gang banger I might have chosen to keep my mouth shut in that situation. I wouldnt be on the bus a couple of miles from home and "homies" woofin off at the mouth in "enemy" territory. Not a smart move. RIP young man

Even if he provoked the situation or not an unarmed man was shot to death, that is how gangs conduct thier business. If you want proof look at previous incidents on the Homocide Report and see the overwhelming commonality in the murders.

You know these "word" on the street reports are curious to me. Whomever is the source of these reports needs to work with law enforcement to solve the crime.
Enemy territory? It is enemy territory all through LA County for young men between the ages of 15 - 40 and up. You don't have to be affilliated to be approached.

So if he was close to home or homies then it is a smart move to mouth off at rivals because he is near some support. You sound like an ex-gang member. So was the shooter justified because he was in his own territory?

EVERYONE knows thats how gangs conduct there business. thats no secret. but if he acted differently or shut his mouth sooner he mightve gotten a "pass" and still be alive

I thought we were in America, where you had Freedom of speech? Oh, that don't apply to LA, huh? This is a sad situation, sometimes you do need to know when to humble yourself and walk away, but it appear he was on the bus, leaving whatever had happened, and they came up to the bus to kill him, because he "dissed" them. Black men in LA, need to wake up and realize that life is precious and valuable, and you only get one! If they want to kill, join the military and go fight in a real war, instead of creating one here that don't need to be fought!

How do you know if someone is from a rival gang or not. These gangbangers will shoot you if you are not affiliated with a gang. If you dont belong to them you are the enemy. Please this has to stop. There are innocent people out there being gunned downed that are not in gangs. Please Stop this behavior.

The person going by a - instead of a name you are a hood coward. I guess if you smart off at the mouth you deserve to be killed too? Gangs are a stupid thing to be a part of in the first place. And by you affiliating yourself by defending a murder shows how simple and stupid you are yourself. You need to go beyond the hood and educate yourself and do better than mediocre or your a$$ will be a statistic on here too. Grow up and stop hangin with people and groups that could eventually get you killed.

the problem is that the CA government has outlawed law bidding citizens from owning the proper firearms to protect themselves. U mean I can't have a AR-15 to protect myself??? The hell with that, if fools on the block don't give a damn bout the law and carry AK-47s and AR-15 I should be able to carry the same type of weapon. Maybe if all citizens would arm themselves with semi-automatic weapons crime will go down. Its real easy to shoot a person who u know doesn't have weapon. It's a different situation if the person shooting back. Let a couple of law bidding citizens shoot back with the same fire power...they'll cool off a lil' bit. They won't be as trigger happy I'll tell u that much.
