Joshua Flynn, 17

Died June 7, 2010 at 5:45 p.m.

Joshua Flynn, a 17-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, June 7, near Crenshaw Boulevard and 109th Street in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities said Flynn was walking north on Crenshaw Boulevard when two men approached him on foot and shot him.

Flynn was shot shortly after 5 p.m., said Lt. Oscar Serrano of the Inglewood Police Department.

"When officers arrived on scene, they found a male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds to his chest," Serrano said.

The teen was taken by paramedics to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Through witness statements, the assailants were described as black males. The shooting, authorities said, appeared to be gang-related.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Inglewood Police's homicide section at (310) 412-5246 or the anonymous hot line at (881) 412-7463.

R.I.P. Mr. Flynn. I knew this minor because I worked where he was incarcerated. He was very respectful and carried himself far beyond his years. I'm said to see that the gang banging life caught up with him, he had a lot of potential and seemed to be a smart kid.

By the way the n.b.i.c. isn't code for a blood gang. It stood for Nutty Block in peace, That is the Crip gang Mr. Flynn was a member of. He died in Inglewood in a Blood neighborhood. Unfortunatly as the kids say "he got caught slipping"

I hope your at peace in heaven Mr. Flynn.

— Nakia Chaney, since the deceased was a gangster himself, he must have been involved in some violent criminal conduct himself.

Don't you think he also was a coward? Don't you wonder about the people who were victimized by the deceased and his fellow gangsters?

You can't tell me at 5:00pm on Crenshaw Blvd no one did not see the suspects. Crenshaw is packed with traffic at that hour. I bet if Inglewood PD had of shot him or down something to cause his death, the community would be up in arms and protesting. This is ultimately what gang activity is going to get you incarceration or death.

-Syscom3. Is that all you do, post negative comments after a gang member dies? You have too much time on your hands. Either that or someone close to you must have died at the hands of a gangster. There has to be a reason you keep making these ignorant comments. You have no idea the type of person FLYNN was or what lead him to that life style. Believe it or not a lot of those kids are forced into gangs. If you want to preach to someone go preach to the kids that are alive and not dead.

— B.C., what do you want me to do? Praise the deceased and say "lets all forget about the wicked life he chose to live"?

I want the world to remember on who the deceased was and the lifestyle he chose to live. And the pain and terror he inflicted upon others.

And my opinions are far from ignorant. They are the unvarnished truth. And untill the truth is accepted, you can never change things.

@syscom3 You can say what you want to say-we all get that, but you are attacking the homicide victim-he/or she is dead and you keep saying how much "pain and terror he or she has inflicted on society" If you do not have specific instances of the individuals involvement in a specific terrorist act then stop lumping them all together. You don't have the right to be so cruel in your post just because YOU feel it is justified because some gang members are terrorist and do commit crimes, not all do. The police place a person under the title of a 'gang member" just because they live in a crip or blood hood-I know because they did it to me and I am not a member or affiliated with any gang- just unfortunate enough to have lived in a gang neighborhood. So stop generalizing and stop acting like your "TRUTH" is the only TRUTH.
