Juan Montenegro, 24, a Latino man, was shot while riding a bicycle in the 3600 block of Lifur Avenue in El Sereno at about 5 p.m. Sunday, July 22 — another homicide death on that lethal day.
He was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he died a couple of hours later, said Det. D.W. Fields of LAPD's Hollenbeck Division. The suspects were in a black or blue car, possibly a Honda. Anyone with information is asked to call Hollenbeck homicide detectives at (323) 526-3000.
Montenegro's name was missed in our canvass of coroner and police records from last week. Thanks to a reader for bringing this omission to light. Montenegro's name will be added to the list after his identity is confirmed.
