Can anyone tell me what percentage of these murders get solved because either L.A is full of mad gunmen or the same crazy few are carrying out these mindless murders constantly.??

@pablouk none of them gets solved because the goverment can care less..the man just sits and watch the genocide happen this is nothing new l.a. has been like this for about 40 years

— d, and just what do you want the govt to do? Babysit all of the residents of these killing field neighborhoods?

Many of these homicides can never be solved because people wont talk, the thug life is glamorized and the residents would rather elect do nothing politicians than to begin to solve the many underlying problems that cause this problem in the first place.

Go look in the mirror, and then you will understand who is truely to blame.

Always easier to blame than make a change.

First of all, my personal respect for the victim.
I'm italian and i'm writing from Verona. I stayed 1 month in honeymoon in California (one week in LA, Santa Monica) last september and i really enjoyed that trip.
Just one thing: it is really necessary underline the people Race/Ethnicity? There is not enough rage between races? (yes, i read the explanation of why the LA TIMES declares the race but i found it not adjective)
Ciao!

Leo, what "rage between the races" are you referring to? For the most part, there hasnt been any racial aminosity for 30 to 40 years.

And why do you not think it is appropriate to comment on the race of the victim? Are you afraid of facts?

Why are you not calling it like it is,Blacks and Mexicans are causing the majority of violence in these neighborhoods,if it wasn't for there major part in crime there would not be killings everyday, mostly killing there own kind, but it does not make you a bigot to call it like it is,if it were not for black and mexicans the crime rate would be almost be nonexistant.truth is the truth.

Syscom3,
You are so blind to the facts that it's appalling. You said that there hasn't been racial animosity in 30 to 40 years! Are you forgetting about the LA Riots? Are you forgetting about Florencia 13's campaign to "cleanse" their neighborhood which resulting in numerous innocent blacks being killed? What about the racial conflict 15 years ago in Venice between the blacks and Mexican's that resulted in 17 murders in 10 months? Are you forgetting about Rodney King?
You really outdid yourself with that comment, but I can't say that I'm surprised.

In a city with tense racial relations, the decision to publish racial identification is reprehensible. It leads to the conclusion that the aim is to foment racial unrest. Proving it is difficult, but I have no doubt they are aware of this and still stand pat.

90caliber-

The better question for people like you is why in the world would you NOT want all the information possible about these crimes, where they're occurring, who they're affecting, etc.? The simple and undeniable truth is that there is and has been for some time a violent crime epidemic that disproportionately is affecting black and latino neighborhoods. When people begin to acknowledge that and then take the proper steps to combat it, then we will see improvement. Trying to be PC and pretending that this is affecting everyone across the board the same is a joke and does nothing to solve the problem.

Chris-
There are no easy answers. Certain entrenched mainstream elements benefit by racial violence, especially since it isn't directed at them. Pitting one minority group against another serves their aims. When you have white people like syscom3 speculating on which gang served up payback, it becomes clear some are using this forum to whip up racial strife in uneducated/unsophisticated minds.
Most people will read the comments, then with a shake of the head go on with their lives. But to a certain minority of readers, the comments have deadly resonance. I have no empirical evidence of this. It is a gut feeling borne of being a minority and knowing my community.
I wonder how much damage has already been done by this irresponsible forum.

— 90caliber ...... "When you have white people like syscom3 speculating on which gang served up payback,"

How do you know what my ethnicity is? And its not me speculating what gang is active in what area. They're all urban terrorists to me. Once again I'm accused of doing this and that when the facts show otherwise.

" ... I wonder how much damage has already been done by this irresponsible forum."

No damage has been done. In fact its blogs like this that improve things by bringing attention to the carnage being done in these killing fields.

im tired of people like syscom3 and meck... if you were never born into that life then don't judge it... just thank god that you weren't born into it.. some people don't even choose this life... sometimes rival gangs kill innocents because of who they are related to... imagine gettin shot at for something your cousin or uncle did?? now imagine it happening three times... what would you do?? move??? where?? your whole family is here...
you guys wanna sit here and judge a man who died fighting??? most of you will do all tha right things and still die like a coward!!!
if you can sit up here and talk all this junnk about how we need to take back our community but you personally aint doin S*** about it.... you are a coward..
i doubt that you (syscom3 or Meck) would even tell tha police if I got killed right in front of you... and that makes you a coward...
so all this rightous talk aint foolin me cowards... because if you were really for humanity you would be doing something instead of judging...
come down here and coach a basketball team or something... until then shut up and do nothing while we continue to kill eachother out here!!! enjoy tha show... like you been doin... COWARDS

It must make you feel better to call me a coward. When in reality the cowards are these urban terrorists and their enablers (you)!
