Karapet Bulmadzhyan, a 22-year-old Armenian man, was fatally shot by police Sunday, Jan. 22, in the 7700 block of Ethel Avenue in Sun Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Officers responded to a call shortly before 6 a.m. about a man threatening residents at a home. When authorities arrived, they found Bulmadzhyan standing outside with a gun, police said.
Officers said that they ordered Bulmadzhyan to put down the weapon but he refused, prompting police to shoot him.
Bulmadzhyan was pronounced dead at the scene. The officers were not injured.
The shooting remains under investigation.
