Kenneth Flanders

Kenneth Flanders, 55, a black man, was beaten to death with a cast-iron frying pan while sleeping in his bed at 745 E. 47th St. in South-Central Los Angeles, according to Newton homicide supervisor Kelle Baitx. His time of death was listed as 8:17 p.m. Oct. 2.

Flanders' 43-year-old roommate, Kevan Beech, a black man, was arrested at the scene. Investigators allege that on the previous day, Beech had gotten angry that Flanders would not provide him drugs. When Flanders fell asleep, Beech got the pan and beat him, then stayed there for a day. Flanders' family members showed up, found him beaten to death, and summoned police.
