Apparently this was a fight between two homeless men. There is speculation on other websites that they were fighting over a beer. One site quoted the suspect Billy Young as saying that Kevin Hirtle was his "road dog".

Kevin Hirtle,
Was an extremely bright young man that was apparently down on his luck for whatever reason that might have been we are not sure yet, but I know for a fact that He has family that loves him and only wanted the best for him. Regardless of whether he was homeless or not NO one deserves to get killed in that manner.

Kevin was an amazing person. He does and always will have family back home loving and, missing him. What that kid billy did is uncomoprehensible and I hope he gets what he deserves. He took away a father from his son,a friend, brother, uncle and for what?needless, sensless b.s. I just hope that Kevin can look down and smile and be proud of what a man his son,his legacy, has grown to be.Kevin will always be loved and missed by many...He was an amazing person
