Kevin Johnson, 40, a black man, was shot to death in the 4100 block of Sutro Avenue near Leimert Park about 3:35 a.m. Monday, June 30.
Police said Johnson was standing alongside his car when a suspect or suspects approached and shot him multiple times. Family members and neighbors went outside and found Johnson lying on the sidewalk, police said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, authorities said.

Kevin, it's been two years since you were taken away from us, but it seems like the nightmare was just yesterday. I miss your warm smile and your funny since of humor. Happy Birthday! Still can't believe my dad is gone, it hurts so bad and I don't know why but I keep checking this page hoping something will change.

Just looking through some of the pics from back in the dayz. If they only knew the stuff we got into. Damn, sorry I wasn't there for you this go-round. You were the OLDER brother I never had. A pioneer and a soldier in everything you did. Rest well, and keep watch over us all.

I was packing to relocate to Las Vegas on June 30, 2008 when I heard of your death. You were definitely like a brother to me, I miss you alot but in spite of the tragedy, God allowed me to see you before leaving this earth in a dream, which was peaceful, so I will hold on to that when I'm in thought of you.
