Larry Samudio, 38 [Updated]

Died Nov. 20, 2010

Larry Samudio, a 38-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Saturday, Nov. 20, near York Boulevard and Avenue 56 in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Samudio got into a fight and was stabbed several times about 3:30 a.m. He was taken to the hospital where he died at 6:13 a.m.

The Times has contacted investigators for more details about the case and will include an update as soon as possible.

[Updated Dec. 7, 11:47 a.m.: Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Lt. Gregg Strenk said Samudio was "at a gathering with friends and family when he became involved in a verbal dispute." The argument led to a physical fight between Samudio and several people and then to his stabbing.

Officials have since identified the alleged assailant in connection with the killing: Eriverto Casillas, a 19-year-old Latino. Authorities said they have a warrant for his arrest on suspicion of murder and are actively searching for him.

Anyone with information about Casillas’ whereabouts is asked to contact the LAPD at (877) 527-3247. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.]

Larry - My lil knucklehead Larry that was my loving nickname to him, every time he would hear me say that to him, he would laugh as he felt the love behind my words. I have many fond memories of my nephew, I held him in my arms when he was a baby, then toddler, then he got too big and should have carried me.

Larry & I had a very special bond, I scolded & lectured him like my own son and he would always say “ I know Tia Pat” but he always knew I loved & cared deeply for him.

I will forever remember the Love, Laughter & many letters we shared between us. My Lil Knucklehead Larry will always be in my heart and I will miss him SO Very Much. Rest in peace Larry.

A friend of mine seen a group of people, men and women, beating the crap out of this guy. He didn't see them stab him, but he did say that after they beat him up, and apparently stabbed him, they dragged him up onto the sidewalk, and left him to die. Sick people ....

Angel - I'm really sorry for you loss. Honestly I didn't mean to start any fight here. I was just commenting on the story that I had heard about. I was in no way at all involved in any of this. I will not comment anymore....
