Leonardo Reyes, 42

Leonardo Reyes, 42, a Latino man, was fatally shot during a fight at 1801 S. Westmoreland Ave. in Westlake about 12:45 a.m. Friday, June 20.  Reyes was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According police, officers from LAPD's Rampart Division responding to a shots-fired call found Reyes with a gunshot wound to his chest. Police said Reyes had been walking when he got into a fight with two Latino men.  One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Reyes, authorities said. Reyes ran away after being shot, then collapsed in an alley, where the officers found him. Police said one of the men was wearing a blue shirt, the other a white shirt.  The two men fled on foot, police said. The motive for the shooting is unknown.
