Gabriel Camaro, 43 [Updated]

Died July 19, 2010

Gabriel Camaro, a 43-year-old Latino, died Monday, July 19, in the 8700 block of Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[For the record: An earlier version of this post, based on the initial information from authorities, identified the shooting victim as Luis Camargo and no age was originally given. Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said they were able to determine Camaro's true identity through fingerprints.]

Camaro was shot about 2:10 a.m. outside Guys & Dolls, a popular nightclub, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Cmdr. James Lopez.

An argument broke out between two groups as the club was closing, and shots were fired between two cars, Lopez said.

Camaro, who was working at the valet parking stand, was killed in the crossfire, Lopez said.

Part of the incident was caught on video by a camera person working for the celebrity gossip website TMZ. The footage shows people leaving the area — some standing in the street near idling cars —followed by the sound of at least eight gunshots. At that point, the camera person and others can be seen running from the scene. Someone screamed "Oh my God."

A man and a woman were also injured and were taken to hospitals for treatment. Their identities were not immediately released.

My heart broke when i heard this story... my cousin is a valet, and his name is Luis! Thank god it wasn't him, but horrendous to what ever family has to plan a funeral. There were a lot of witnesses and a short video of the incident. I hope people will speak and i hopethe family gets justice for a man who was simply working late hours to make a living. My condolences...

Yep, looks like it. Another example of the cowardly low-life thug "culture". Bet the dude felt "disrespected". Unfortunately, an innocent worker at the club lost his life as a result of this scumbag.

If this "hardcore gangsta" is found to be an influential member of the Hip-Hop industry, will he receive a lesser sentence? Just wondering if justice will be equally served!

I wonder if killing an innocent valet worker makes a thug more respectable... cowards!

David, why don't you send it c/o the club, or the WeHo Sheriff? I'm sure they'd pass it along.

Yes, it seems Luis was caught in the crossfire of a bar fight. His murder looks like a possible Rolls-Royce drive-by, (possibly a first). From the ContraCostaTimes:

"Authorities were looking today for a black Bentley or Rolls-Royce with the partial license plate of 5783G in a shooting that killed a valet and wounded two other people outside a West Hollywood nightclub."

As to motive for the shooting, From the Weho news: "One news account recounted a witness saying the argument broke out over a stolen chain." It goes on to say that this club has been in and out of trouble for the year it's been open.

May his family find the peace only God can give. I wish this family to recieve the blessings from heaven to sustain them during this awful time. Who are you to shoot into a crowd? How much of a coward are you to put innocent peoples life in danger? There is a special place in hell for the person (animal) who killed Luis. If it is all about a stolen chain- is it worth a life. I think not.

Well, well, well. This is a perfect example of how blind people are to the fact that drive-by shootings, gang violence, and stupidity can happen anywhere.

What? You think YOUR neighborhood is immune to all of this? Shooting from a Bentley? Really? Well they would have been easy to catch in South Central. Not so easy to catch in Beverly Hills.

Upuras -

That was the lamest post ever for you and thats saying something. You can really tell your from the UK there bud. Your ranting to no one. Heck, not even Syscom 3 commented here. Your just looking to rile. Much the same as you blame him. One difference. He makes sense. You just make trouble.

Roger, no one has disputed that gang violence can occur anywhere.

Its just that statistically, it occurs in some areas with far more frequency than others.

I'll go further than Syscom....not only do certain areas see FAR more frequent incidents like this, I would be surprised if the perpetrators of this incident weren't from those areas and participated in the moronic gang thug lifestyle which is common there.

The person who Shot at these people did not drive away in a Bentley what so ever he Drove off in a Black Monte Carlo, they need to get facts reporters are wrong most of the time.... Thats what delays these investigations and helps people get away with murder on a total Victim!!! Also everyone who was there knows only that Black guy shot at everyone it was not a cross fire only one Shooter with a gun firing at innocent people who did not have a chance to defend themselves.....
