Luis Pierson, a 42-year-old Latino, died July 30 from complications suffered from a beating that took place four days earlier. Pierson was assaulted July 26 at West 104th Street and Firmona Avenue in Lennox, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.Pierson went to the emergency room on the day he was attacked and was discharged, said Craig Harvey, chief coroner investigator. Three days later, paramedics took him to the hospital again. Pierson had suffered a ruptured spleen, which caused his death the following day, Harvey said.
