Luis Romo, 21

Died April 1, 2007 at 1:33 a.m.

Luis Romo, a Latino young man, was shot in an alley at 2416 Boulder St. in Boyle Heights and died at 1:33 a.m. Sunday, April 1. Romo was walking in the alley, just off Soto Street, when he was attacked, and a bullet plunged clear through several vital organs.

Mortally wounded, he was still able to run some distance and jump a 3 1/2-foot chain-link fence into a nearby yard in an effort to save himself. He collapsed on the other side of the fence. Hollenbeck Det. Marc Phillips is looking for tips—including anonymous tips—to find Romo's killer and take him into custody. Phillips' number is (323) 526-3680.
