Lusine Safaryan, an 8-year-old girl, was shot and killed in her Hollywood home between 7:30 and 8 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 2008, authorities said.

Her father, Khachik Safaryan, 43, was also killed in the shooting at their home in the 1200 block of Tamarind Avenue.

Officers said there was no evidence of forced entry into the home and no known motive for the crime.

Lusine's 12-year-old sister found the bodies when she came home from school later in the day.

The family car was also found several blocks from their home with no forced entry, and officers said they did not know who moved the vehicle.

The incident is being investigated as a double homicide.

"This is the first time something like this has happened to the neighborhood," said Oganis Orvakyan, 55, a neighbor.

[For the record:  An earlier version of this post, which was based on the original report, incorrectly gave the older daughter's age as 15.]
