Manuel Santizo, 28

Died April 17, 2011

Manuel Santizo, a 28-year-old Latino male, was struck by a car and shot and killed by the occupants in a possible gang-related incident in Silver Lake, officials said.

Santizo was riding his bicycle Sunday evening when the car hit him near Hoover Street and Del Mar Avenue, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department.

At least 60 homicides have been reported within 2 miles of Sunday's shooting since January 2007, according to coroner's data.

She said some of those inside the car then got out and shot the bike rider in the upper body.

The cyclist was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, about 9:30 p.m. Herrera said there was no description of the car or gunmen.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

Manny I can’t believe that you’re gone. Our son will miss you very much we love you and I will make sure our little boy knows what a great father you were and how much you loved him. When we talked Saturday I never thought it would be the last time. I still can’t believe your not here, when I wake up I still keep hoping and praying that this is a nightmare. I want you to know your son said mommy don’t cry daddy’s in heaven. You did not deserve to go meme you will be in my prayers and may your soul rest in peace. We will never forget you.

I think the Police need to look more into this, as Manny was not a gang member!

First they take you out with the car. Then as if not enough, get out and start capping on you. Wow! Insane.

My heart goes out to your family, especially to your little boy. He was your pride and joy and will always be. May your family find strength in the Lord to help them during this difficult time. This world is full of evil and they may have taken your body, but your soul lays in the hands of God and that's something those people whom did this to you will not experience. Much prayers for everyone's life that you were a part of!! To the mother of your son...you hang in there and have faith that God will get you and your son through this. It's not going to be easy, but you will make it through & remember, Manny will always be here in spirit for you and your son. God Bless you!!
