Manuel Avelar, an 18-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Thursday, Nov. 10, in the 200 block of South Willow Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Avelar was walking to his car when he was shot. His body was found about 11:30 p.m., said Lt. Mary Leef of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
According to coroner's records, Avelar died from a gunshot wound to the head.
