Manuel Melgoza Jr., a 35-year-old Latino, died on Thursday, Sept. 17, after he was shot in the 13200 block of Mona Boulevard in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.Melgoza, of Compton, was standing outside a residence with his wife when two men drove up and one of them opened fire on the couple, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office. Melgoza was shot at about 8:55 p.m. and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 p.m., Winter said.
Coroner's officials did not know if Melgoza's wife sustained any injuries in the incident.
