Marco Herrera

Marco Herrera, an 18-year-old Latino, was beaten outside the Red Square nightclub at 20001 Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, and afterward remained comatose at a Northridge hospital for several days before dying Tuesday, Nov. 27, around 10 p.m. of head trauma.

LAPD West Valley Det. Joel Price said that police believe some kind of dispute involving Herrera erupted inside the club just before closing time. There was some pushing and shoving, and security guards may have asked some people to leave. Herrera was among those leaving the club. He was outside on the sidewalk when a group of young men—several of Armenian descent and one young black man—attacked him. They beat and kicked him severely. Afterward, friends took him to the Northridge hospital, where he underwent surgery, then lingered on a respirator for four days before dying.

I see from the archived comments that someone was detained for this crime. Can we have an update? Scary to think you just go to a club in Woodland Hills for some fun and wind up dead. There has to be more to this story. Thanks HR.

@ give US a break - @ give US a break...
When a murder is investigated and tried in court it is done by civil servants who are paid for by the tax dollars of citizens of the County of Los Angeles, and I am one of those citizens.

The trial is conducted as The People of California VS Mr/Mrs Murderer, and I am a member of The People of California.

As a resident, a tax payer and a law-abiding citizen, I have the right to know that people who commit crimes against me (as a member of the People of California) are being actively sought, actively tried and incarcerated accordingly.

And, as a parent I want to know what is going on in my community so I may be informed and make good choices for my family.

If that offends you,TOO BAD.
