Mario Jackson, 45, a black man, was killed in a double homicide at 10974 South Broadway in South Los Angeles, and died at 12:22 a.m. May 6. The other victim was Tierney Yates, 36.
The two were killed at a motorcycle club in the 10900 block of South Broadway in LAPD's Southeast Division about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, May 5. Dozens of people had gathered at the club to watch a televised boxing match. A suspect quarreled with one of the victims, then shot both and fled.
Jackson was visiting his old neighborhood, which he had left behind. He was working, doing well for himself, and had mostly moved on. At least part of the quarrel, according to police, had to do with others' resentment of his aspirations and efforts. Officers found the victims dead of gunshot wounds to the torso. They detained about 20 people who were still at the club; all claimed not to have seen the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Southeast homicide detectives at (213) 972-7848.

This is such a sad situation, I have so much compassion for Mario and Slim. I remember the days in the Vermont Gardens when Bardog, Lowdown Pick, Cricket, Cartoon, Troubleman and so many more we use to kick it and chill. Us old cats need to take a back seat and teach the new school better. I will never forget where I came from but God sent me in another direction.. Raymond Out!! Rest In Peace Lil DayDay, Bardog, Bam, Wack,Mumbles, Lil Ripdog, Big Ripdog,Wack and I will never forget you big T.C and my homie Rico
