Marisol Aguayo, 22 [Updated]
Died Nov. 26, 2010
Marisol Aguayo, a 22-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Friday, Nov. 26, while driving west on the 91 Freeway near the Wilmington Avenue exit in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The car-to-car shooting occurred about 8:15 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Guillermina Saldana.
Authorities said Aguayo was able to drive to a gas station but died before she could be taken to a hospital.
Investigators said they had no motive or suspect information at this time.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call detectives at (323) 890-5500, or call anonymously at (800) 222-TIPS.
[Update Dec. 2: Aguayo was a passenger in the car when she was shot, said sheriff's homicide Det. Tod Anderson, who is handling the case. Although detectives said Aguayo was 29, the coroner's office says she was 22.
Anderson said a male acquaintance of Aguayo's who was driving the vehicle was not hit by gunfire.
"There is nothing definitive to say they were targeted," Anderson said.
Investigators are asking the public's help for more information about the shooting. Anyone driving west on the 91 freeway between Avalon Boulevard and the 710 Freeway Nov. 26 from 8 to 8:15 p.m. is asked to contact Det. Anderson or Angus Ferguson at (323) 890-5601.]

I did not know Marisol. I never had the honor or meeting her, but I do know her daughter Priscilla. I work at the daycare she attends. Therefore, I am deeply sorry for what has happened to this little girl's mother. It hurts me so much to think about this tragedy. I cannot imagine the pain her mother & daughter are going through. It is so sad someone has to try and explain this to such an innocent young child. I love Priscilla, she is such a sweet girl. I will pray for her everyday & I hope she will be okay. I am so sorry mija. I wish I could do something for you..

First things first... She was NOT 22, she was 29. Marisol was one of my close friends since the age of FIVE. We went through so much in life and still kept in great contact for the past 24 years! I just saw her @ a Halloween party and danced to our favorite music (old school hip hop). Priscilla was her world and she would've done ANYTHING for that precious child. We lost a beautiful person that day MUCH too soon... we were supposed to party for our 30th b'days together... She will ALWAYS be in my heart :"( I LOVE YOU MARI!

Is there a maniac stalking the 91 fwy? My daughter and her friend were terrorized by a person that went in front of them some distance away and then put his car in reverse! Her friend stopped his car in time so as not to hit the maniac. Then after they went around this maniac's car, it followed them and my daughter thought he was going to follow her to our house. She came in the house very shook up. It was in the area where the car to car shooting occurred and happened like a week before. She said it looked like a newer Honda SUV...

How is it that we can not drive on the freeways or walk the streets, or sit in our homes with out the fear of being shot??? What is going on in Los Angeles County??. I am so tired of innocent people being shot to death all because of some gang mess. People PLEASE, PLEASE can we flood the Senators, the Congressmen's offices' with our demand to end this gang violence. Someone please help.....please

— Weezy, its because of a culture that celebrates death and terror. Its a specific subset of people who engage in these terroristic acts.
Nearly every single one of the people who use weapons in a road rage incident has had contact with the police at some point in their lives. Nearly all of them are gangsters.
I'd say we should throw them all in prison. But the USSC judges will say so otherwise.
And these types of crimes will be come far more frequest since we have a new AG for this state who only has compassion for criminals and not the victims.
You reap what you sow ... and for the voters of this state; time for the harvest.

I keep thinking we could put serious pressure on the gang garbage if we could let the public know who they are. The police have a pretty good database about the known gangs and the identity of their members and associates. If we could make this information accessible to the average Joe, just as we have done for the sex offenders, many of the law abiding citizens could make life difficult for them. Start with housing. Don't rent to them. Keep your kids away from them. Keep an eye on their activities. Kick them out of your stores and bars, etc. Most of these gangs are quite localized and if people in an area knew exactly who the vermin were, things might improve. We need to be more specific, people, more concrete about how to fix this mess.

Oh and one more thing: If we could muster up the fortitude to deport all the illegals in this country (or make them so uncomfortable that they left voluntarily), a big portion of the gang problem would go away (think MS-13).

Citizejohn, you are truly naive assuming this country makes it comfortable for illegal immigrants. Did you know a lot of them are paid minimum and even under the minimum wages? Did you know they can't get a driver's license and as a result they get their vehicles impounded and pay a hefty fine of $1,500? Also, did you know they get taxes garnished out of their paycheck and they can never get a refund from the IRS? Did you know many of them don't get paid overtime and are exploited in the work place? I can't go on and on, but you along with Meck and the others who agreed with your comment are so ignorant and assume all illegal immigrants are criminals.

I can't recall ever commenting or agreeing with anyone, that 'all illegal immigrants are criminals,' as you suggest!

There are murderers, then there are random murderers. The lowest of them are freeway shooters. These people should face the electric chair DRY, like the movie green mile, and then stopped a few seconds in the execution, revived and retortured- 1/2 killed over and over again. God bless this poor young lady
