Like many others, i would never want to visit Los Angeles due to the ridiculous murder rate over there. It's enough to put off anyone.

— PabloUK
June 15, 2010 at 8:25 a.m.

— PabloUK ...... many parts of LA have homicide rates that are lower than parts of the UK.

And if you avoid a few well defined area's (which you would have no reason to go to anyway) then you would have little to fear.

Hi PabloUK,

I promise there are many people who've lived here happily for years without being shot at, stabbed, or otherwise intimidated.

PabloUK - I'm sure the UK has areas worse than some of these L.A. areas with high crime rates. I've lived here 26 years, have had no problems other than a couple of high school fights. I love Los Angeles, and I wouldn't leave it for anything. Most of the areas mentioned here a gang-infested, crime riddened and poverty-level income. All you have to do is stay away from these areas. There's nothing of importance in many of them anyway, unless you're dying to see the Watts Towers!!

Marlon we love you sooooo much wish this was a dream but you are in a better place it won't be the same tho without you at our parties. But I know you will live through your kids and Coco and mom's. I keep calling your voice mail just to hear your voice it's just davasting that someone so ignorant can just take a life away like that you was always laid back and never was disrespectful towards me and I love you for that. Every time I invited you to an event u always came and supported us. When I didn't feel like taking my kids to school you was always there and I would drop off Paris. I can go on and on with memories I love you so much and I pray that you rest in peace and justice will be served.

Meck,
How dare you insult any part of LA, just because a lot of shootings take place in some area's more than others does not mean there is nothing there, we have museums in "that area" and colleges too so watch your mouth

— Weezy
June 15, 2010 at 2:48 p.m.

— Weezy, facts are facts. Most of the area's where the most homicides occur, do not have museums or points of interest.

— syscom3
June 15, 2010 at 4:38 p.m.

Weezy - Sorry if you feel insulted. I think I speak for the majority of the people that don't want trouble, when I said stay away from those high-crime areas if you want to live. I personally would not go to a museum or attend a college out of Compton or South Central, even if they were holding the Mona Lisa there!!!

There's crime where ever you go, you can't run from it but you can try to avoid situations where ever you are. The bottom line is that a young MAN a father, son, and brother lost his life and my heart goes out to his family. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and I pray that justice is served.

Unfortunately, there is crime everywhere around the world, that's inevitible. The truth, however, is that the US ranks 4th in the world in Murders with firearms. That's a proven statistic ---> http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_wit_fir-crime-murders-with-firearms

Marlon and me went to cienega ele together. I known Marlon since we were about 6. It HURTS LIKE HELL. Me and marlo works in construction in 08 at the bel-air middle school. I hadnt seen him since 01 and it felt good to see him as a carpenter like me. He was already 6th stage apprentice at the time i was just 2nd stage apprentice. Working and hanging out with a childhood friend was a blessing from god to have him help me out and show me the ropes of metal stud framing, and just the way things can go smooth in construction if u listen and follow the steps needed to complete a task fast and efficient. I miss him

I Can't believe the homie Marlon is gone. We went to computer school together. We used to walk to his apartment where he lived with his Mom. He was saving his money to buy a car, He finally got His Lincoln Town Car, all white! He was rolling! When my car broke down on the freeway I called Marlon and he was there for me In a flash! RIP Homie, Jehovah has promised, You will Live again in Paradise.

It's sad to know that Marlon was killed and to date no leads or even a description of his killer. Wasn't there someone with him? If so, why aren't they helping? Is Marlon just gonna be No. 134 killed and that's that! I guess it's just like being killed here in Belize and getting no JUSTICE!

This is Marlon's sister, I am touched & very heartfelt to have read all these messages about him. I heard about it but was to emotional to get to this point & even though its almost a yr & a half later, I still cant hold back the tears but he's almost @complete rest. On June 18th 2011, Det. Dickson & Det. Heitzman made an arrest of the 3 young men responsible for Our Marlon's death. They all been charged with 1st degree murder & on $2 million $bail(each). The trail starts on Dec 15th @ 9am in div30 on the 5th floor @ The Criminal Courts building downtown LA. Thank You all for the love & concern.

— Weezy, facts are facts. Most of the area's where the most homicides occur, do not have museums or points of interest."...Syscom3 check your facts and you will see that there are many points of interest in cities with high crine rates...Actually one such historical landmark is George Bush Sr. address as a kid...It's actually in the city of COmpton on Santa Fe...Long Beach is filled with tons of historical landmarks as well...They have a museum that tells all about the makeup of the city...You wouldn't know because you dont do work in these cities and its probably because you are afraid....You constantly speak on things you have no idea about...Yes there is crime in these cities but there is also crine elsewhere...Here's an interesting fact...IN suburbs when there is murder they come in packs because most are mental health related and it usually a family member killing the entire family...THis is on the rise and we are starting to see more of this in the news... The L.A tar pits area is infested with gangs but people still go there to visit...The museum by USC right in the heart of gangs is a big attraction...Stop being a tunnel vision idiot and get to know your state before you put out incorrect statements...You know in my field we have what we call misdiagnosis...thats what you do on this HR....do some more studying before you comment please...BTW the Watts Towers is a big attraction for photography students from all over...thats a fact!!!!
