McKune Collins, 25

Died Nov. 26, 2011

McKune Collins, a 25-year-old black man, was fatally shot Saturday, Nov. 26, in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Collins, a resident of Victorville, was found shot about 5:30 p.m. He suffered fatal gunshot wounds to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's believed that Collins and the assailant may have had a conversation or argument just before the shooting, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Lisa Massacani. The incident was possibly gang-related.

Police ask that anyone who can help identify a suspect call Dets. Hugo Cortes or Donald Goodman at (562) 570-7244 or send anonymous tips to www.tipsoft.com.

One reader comment about McKune Collins

He was a loving devoting young man. He did not bother anyone. He alwasy had a smile on his face. He was so willing to help others. Its a shame the the killer or killers are still at large to hurt another family. Who ever done this should be off the street. How senseless is this to shot a person down for no reason. This coward had this on his/her mind when they left there house. They wanted to hurt and kill someone. So I pray that LBPD get the person or persons who are responsible for this act. Mckune was a warm heart fun loving person and did not derserve to be shot and killed in the dirty streets. I don't feel safe anymore knowing that this person is still at large. He could be anywhere.
