Three reader comments about Michael Allen
I just wanted to say how sad it was to see Michael's smiling face on this page of murdered victims. I met Michael in juvinile hall in '96. He was in for almost the identical crime i was in for. Young people make mistakes and do foolish things. But he was NOT gang affiliated at that time at all, and I had recently made the decision to renounce my gang ties as well. So we became friends through Bible studies. This was a good guy. He always made everyone laugh. He spoke with a stutter, came from complete poverty and was sentenced to 12 yrs State Prison for his first offense at just 15yrs old. Despite all this, he loved giving positive advice and making the rest of us feel better. He never fought or had bad things to say about others. He broke the tension in our unit. I don't know what happend to him in the years since 1996 but I promise you, he was a Christ Loving, positive thinking kid back then. And he loved his mother dearly. Im sorry this happened to you my Brother "Horse". I hope the killer is caught. The circumstance seems so brutal that whoever did this should be locked away to keep sane people safer. If anyone can help, please do. This was a good man...I'll always remember his smile. Thank you for sharing that with us Michael.

I did some time with Allen in prison and he was a good guy. During that time he wasn't a Christian any longer but a Muslim. Allen was very kind hearted and he liked to joke around. He was about 21 at the time and I will always remember his laugh and bright smile.
We had a few verbal altercations in prison but it was nothing serious. Allen did his own time and he wasn't involved in the prison gangs and politics.
I am sad to see that you passed on and to his family and friends he was a good guy with a bright smile and a loud laugh.
