Michael Jackson, 50
Died June 25, 2009
Michael Jackson, a 50-year-old black man, died Thursday, June 25, after he was given a surgical anesthetic, in combination with other medication, at his rented home in the 100 block of N. Carolwood in Holmby Hills, according to authorities.
Two months after Jackson died, Los Angeles County coroner's officials released their determination that his death was a homicide.
The following is an excerpt from Times' reporters Richard Winton and Harriet Ryan's Aug. 29, 2009 story on that decision:

The Los Angeles County coroner's office has officially ruled Michael Jackson's death a homicide and determined that a surgical anesthetic combined with other medication killed him.
In a one-page statement, officials listed the cause of Jackson's June 25 death as "acute propofol intoxication" with the additional factor of "benzodiazepine effect."
Three different sedatives that fall into the benzodiazepine drug class were in Jackson's system, but only the anti-anxiety medication lorazepam, often known by the brand name Ativan, was cited alongside propofol as "the primary drugs responsible for Mr. Jackson's death."
Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has acknowledged administering both medications to Jackson in the hours leading up to his death, according to search warrant affidavits.

When is the DA going to charge MJ's doctor? This homicide has a well publicized cause. What is holding this up?

I was testing out the new features on the Homicide report and decided to see who was killed in the Beverly Crest neighborhood. Michael Jackson is the only person to have that distinction.
What a bizarre way to die. What can one really say about a doctor who gets paid exorbitant fees to be a bedside anesthesiologist? MJ was a strange character but his death makes a strong case that he was a hopeless drug addict.
One article I read about MJ's death was that it showed the failure of success. I don't know if that's completely true as I'm sure MJ had some fun along the way. It's hard to imagine how crazy his life was and how it led him to have a doctor on hand to knock him out at night. Too much of everything I suppose. Stress, money, drugs, doctors, etc.
RIP MJ

Knowing that the Doctor is still out on murder of Michael Jackson makes people powerless in the face of these people without any scruple. The injustice to the greatest Man-Singers like Michael Jackson hurts us fans, who have consistently maintained at all times of his life and we loved and will love him forever. We miss you so much, Michael. Stefania L. (Rome-Italy/Stef4ni4L)

Michael was a beautiful soul that loved everyone. FBI files released confirmed what I had always thought that the charges against him are unfounded. I wish people would just admit that they are wrong and quit hating him for it. He deserved to be as loved as he loved everyone.

Dr Murray should be charged with 2 nd degree murder. Period. If administering sedatives and injecting anesthesia to a person in their home isn't reason enough to believe he is a threat to people, I don't know what is. Arrest the bastard. I agree that it is time to admit the suffering caused by the unfounded accusations against Michael have done enough damage. The ignorance of these people is unfathomable. I'm grateful for This Is It but still missing Michael every day.

This is probably the lightest form of homicide in the whole homicide report....People cut Dr. Conrad some slack, Why would he kill, intentionally, a man that was extremely over paying him!!!!

The comment by "Your Child" was ignorant at best. The unlawful taking of someone's life is homicide, PERIOD, regardless of the method used or if the killer was an employee of the victim. It doesn't make Michael any less dead than someone that was shot, stabbed, choked, etc. to death.
Rest in Peace to ALL homicide victims and I pray that justice is served in finding, trying and convicting your killers.

Murray was convicted of homicide a felony, spent four months in jail and currently is seeking release on bail pending appeal for a new trial because he still insists Michael killed himself. What a sorry excuse for a human being is this Murray; second degree murder is what he deserved. Our well loved Michael Jackson the victim of a homicide; fans and supporters will never get over it.
