Miguel Monroy, 14, a Latino youth, was beaten and shot to death at 44068 Engle Way in Lancaster after allegedly shooting Daniel Marrero, 20. His time of death was listed as 11:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27.
Marrero, a 20-year-old young man of Puerto Rican descent, was fatally shot in the chest, allegedly by Monroy who was then attacked and killed by Marrero's companions.
Marrero was transported from the scene at 44068 Engle Way in Lancaster, and died at a Antelope Valley hospital at 12:09 a.m., Friday, Sept. 28. Investigators would like to know who all the combatants were. Anyone with information, including anonymous tips, is asked to call (323) 890-5500.
This was, in essence, a brawl that resulted in a death for each side, said Sheriff's Det. Howard Cooper. He said said that five to seven young men and youths, some of them gang members, were fighting in the walkway of an apartment complex. In the midst of the fight, 14-year-old Monroy pulled out a gun and shot Marrero.
In revenge, Marrero's companions jumped on Monroy beat the youngster, then shot him. In the end, Monroy died from a combination of blunt force and gunshots while Marrero, the man he shot, was still struggling to survive. When deputies arrived, they found both of them on the ground—Marrero badly wounded, and Monroy lying nearby, dead. Marrero died an hour after Monroy, his alleged killer.

I miss u so much Miguel..i still cry over u..u left some emptiness in my heart but at least i have the comfort that i meant a lot to u over all these hoes who thought they knew u...u could have said goodbye to anyone but u chose to say goodbye to me ill never forget that day i saw u it really breaks my heart to know we wont have what we once had but i still love u because even a little after u were gone u didn't forget about me u knew how i would react and u knew the only one who could make it all better was u i thank u love for letting me know u still loved me..remember it was u n me against the haters i know well see each other once again but until then i'm gonna miss u babyboy =(...this ain't goodbye okay i love u Miguel remember that...Amber

He was 14 years old the wind blew and well I'm pretty sure you don't know the end of that line but he was 14? Really do you really think he didn't enjoy those hoes? At his age anyone that would give it up was mighty ok with him. Romeo and Juliet the two of you were not.

Miguel we all love and miss you. No one was closer than you and Thumper. !Anyways me and allissa cried for you I remember me and frannkki shooting you with bb guns the night before aha good times. You were a good kid. Thumper even made a song and dedicated it to you... we'll miss you ... bye
