Nicholas Botiller, 26 [Update]

Died Oct. 30, 2011

Nicholas Botiller, a 26-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Sunday, Oct. 30, in the 1000 block of South Meeker Street in West Covina, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Botiller was at a party about 2:15 a.m. when an altercation ensued and he was stabbed.

Authorities were called and the victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m.

Winter had no additional information about the case.

The Times has contacted investigators to obtain additional details about the killing and will post an update as soon as possible.

[Updated, Dec. 14: West Covina police officials, who are handling the investigation, said no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing.

“We’re still following up on some leads; we still have a lot more people to interview,” said Sgt. D. Lee. “And we’ve still got some evidence waiting to be processed.”

The stabbing does not appear to be gang-related, Lee said. Botiller was at a house party when an argument occurred, which led to the stabbing outside on the street.

Authorities responded to a 911 call made at 2:21 a.m. by someone at the party, and Botiller was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in West Covina, where he died.

No other injuries were reported, though someone else may have been punched during the argument, Lee said.

Police officials did not release any additional information about the case.

Anyone with details about the stabbing is asked to contact West Covina Police Department’s tip line at (626) 939-8688. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.]

One reader comment about Nicholas Botiller

Nicholas was a good person at 26 yrs of age he was not married and had no children. He was a loving, funny, jovial person with a strong work ethic and the patience to train his subordinates. Nicholas had attended school to become an EMT which was his ultimate career goal. A monster took his life he will never know what it feels like to be married, the joy of parenthood. Those of us who love him pray God will reveal the face of the monster who committed this crime. If anyone has info please please contact West Covina Police.
